Fall semester is in full swing!

Hi everybody!

We’ve had lots of practices so far this semester and you all have been improving dramatically! Six weeks ago, many of you couldn’t tell how to hold a bow right-side-up, but now look at you! You’re all learning about the proper stance, rotating your scapula, and trying out the Form-Master (that was a hilarious couple of practices, right?). All in all, you guys are all doing great!!

Below, you can see the photos that we’ve been taking at practices and we’ll do our best to take one at the end of every practice!

Enjoy!

Joe Fanchin is in the Daily Trojan!

Hey guys!

Remember last week when we announced that Joe Fanchin, a USC alum and former USC Archery Club member won two gold medals at the World Cup Finals Stage 4 in Shanghai? Well the Daily Trojan heard about it and wrote an article about him! You can read the article here (and I highly suggest that you do!).

Fight on!

Support the club and look good doing it!

Hi everybody!
As some of you have heard, we have some great-looking Archery Club t-shirts designed by past club members for sale! There are three designs, pictured below, and all the shirts are $10! They are all short-sleeved and come in sizes ranging from XS to XXL. These shirts make great presents for relatives (early Christmas shopping, anyone?) and the money goes toward putting on social events for club members and sending the team to competitions. If you’d like to buy one (or two or three!), just send an email to archery@usc.edu, telling us which design and which size you’d like and we’ll bring one to the next practice for you!

Fight on!

USC Archery Club Alum Wins Two Gold Medals!

The finals for the Archery World Cup Stage 4 were held in Shanghai last Saturday (9/10) and Joe Fanchin, a USC alumnus and previous member of the USC Archery Club won two gold medals. One was for the men’s individual recurve competition and the other was for the men’s team recurve competition. Hopefully we’ll see Joe shooting in London at the 2012 Summer Olympics!

You can read more about how Joe shot in the competition here and here and you can watch a video with clips from the competition and interviews with several athletes, including Joe below.

Congratulations, Joe and the rest of Team USA!

Information Sessions

It was great to see so many of you at the involvement fair today! If you are interested in learning more about the club, we have an information session this Friday, August 26th at 1pm and another next Wednesday, the 31st, at 3pm. Both sessions will be held in the basement of the Student Union, in B3, the Trojan Presentation Room. You can enter the building either from the courtyard in the Campus Center or from the doors facing Trousdale.

Don’t worry if you can’t make either info session, you can attend a practice without going to an info session and you can always email us with any questions. The first practice of the semester is this Sunday, the 28th and don’t forget to RSVP online to reserve a spot as this practice is limited to the first 30 people who RSVP!!

We’re back!!

Hi everyone!

Our website is back up and running! We hope you all had a fun and relaxing summer and are ready to join our archery practices and events this semester. We have some brand new bows and a great group of instructors who are excited to teach you all about archery!

We have a table at the USC Involvement Fair which will be held on Wednesday, August 24th (that’s the first week of classes) 11am-2pm and we hope to see you all there! We are also holding information sessions on Friday, August 26th at 1pm (location TBA) and Wednesday, August 31st at 3pm (location TBA) for those who want to learn more about the club, archery, and how practices are run.

Our first general practice will be on Sunday, August 28th 5pm-7pm at Rancho Park and we will meet at 4pm in front of Subway at the University Village. Because of limited space at the archery range, we have to limit the number of people who attend the first practice to 30. The RSVP page is up so sign up now and we hope to see you on Wednesday at the Involvement Fair!

As always, please feel free to email us at archery@usc.edu if you have any questions. Fight on!
