FAQs

What is the Archery Club?
The USC Archery Club is a group of students, faculty, and alumni dedicated to practicing, enjoying and competing in archery. All students, both undergrad and graduate, are welcome to join, as are faculty and staff.

Do I need my own equipment to join?
Don’t own equipment? Not a problem! The club provides all the equipment you will need to practice at our meetings, as well as coaching and instruction on its use.

Can I bring my own equipment?
You sure can! All members are welcome and encouraged to bring their own gear (Bows, arrows, finger tabs, etc.) At your first practice, an instructor or the coach will check out your equipment.

Where does the club practice and how do I get there?
The USC Archery club practices at an archery range in Rancho Park. To get there from USC:
- Take Vermont to the 10 freeway.
- Get on the 10 freeway heading West until the Overland exit.
- Turn right onto Overland and then another right onto Pico. You’ll now be heading east.
- Keep going until you reach Motor, and turn right.
- You will see the entrance to the park on your right, as well as a sign for the archery range. Turn right into this entrance and drive all the way to the end of the road – you’ll come to a large open field next to some baseball fields, and the archery range is just beyond this field on your left.

What if I don’t have a car?
No car? No problem! Before each practice, make sure you RSVP on the “RSVP for Practice” tab and let us know you’re coming. Right before practice, all club members meet in front of the Subway in the University Village. From there we carpool over to the range, so you’ll be able to get a ride with one of us, as well as a ride back! This depends on driver availability.

When are the club practices?
The open practices for archers of all skill levels are on Sundays from 5pm to 7pm. We meet in front of Subway at 4pm and leave by 4:10.

The advanced practices are held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7pm to 9pm and we meet up at Subway at 6pm, leaving by 6:10. Please note that advanced practice is meant for archers who are training for competitions. Please talk with one of the club officers or the coach if you want to attend these practices.

Where do we meet to carpool to the range?
We meet in front of the Subway in the University Village (UV) north of the USC campus. It’s located in the same building as Bank of America and Yoshinoya on the corner of Jefferson Blvd. and McClintock Ave.

How much are club dues?
Club membership is $30 per semester or $50 for a year. Dues are collected at the third practice of each semester. Drivers pay dues but are reimbursed by the club $1 for each passenger that they drive to and from the range.

If I drive to practices, do I have to pay dues?
Yes, you have to pay the same dues as members who do not drive, but the club will pay you for each member that you transport to and from the range each practice. If you only drive yourself, then you still pay dues and are not paid by the club. For the first two practices of the semester, you will be paid $1 per passenger that you transport to and from the range in cash on the spot. Beginning on the third practice of the semester, dues are collected and the club will keep a record of the number of passengers that you transport throughout the semester and you will be paid $1 per passenger in full at the end of the semester. With this arrangement, it is possible to earn back the dues you paid and earn even more.
